Message from IWA President

“Cities of the Future is one of the leading programmes from the International Water Association to address water challenges in cities. It harnesses the power of our network to foster integrated urban water management and planning to improve water security, climate resilience and the quality of life in our Cities. The newly drafted Principles for Water Wise Cities outline a framework to assist urban leaders and professionals to develop and implement their vision for sustainable urban water and identify actions to increase their cities’ resilience. The Embrace the Water Conference in Gothenburg 2017 is a great opportunity for city planners and water professionals to meet, improve synergies and drive forward effective solutions that leverage the many ways water contributes to making a City an attractive and secure place. Taking place a few months after Habitat III in Quito and COP 22 in Marrakech, the Embrace the Water Conference will be the perfect occasion to see how to implement the principles and vision and push forward actions.  I hope you can join us on our journey to water wise cities and contribute to empowering professionals in their respective cities!”
- Dianne D’Arras, IWA President Elect
